Visa
Most AiML 2010 participants will need a visa to enter Russia. Unfortunately, this process is comlicated and should be started well in advance.
To prepare a visa application letter we need some information from you. If you have not done so yet, please fill in the
registration form and send it back to us as soon as possible. In addition we need a scan of your passport (the passport should be valid for at least 180 days after you leave Russia) and some contact information as indicated in the form. We must receive all the information by JUNE 30, and the sooner the better.
As soon as we receive the information, we will arrange for an official invitation letter suitable for the Russian consulate where you are going to apply for your visa. This letter takes some time to register with the authorities in Moscow. Then it will be sent to you by post and you should apply with it to a Russian consulate.
In order to get a Russian visa you have to apply with our invitation
letter to a Russian Embassy. Please, pay attention to the following
aspects
when filling in the visa application forms.
1. The type of visa: you should apply for a "humanitarian" visa, because
you enter Russia for the purpose of scientific cooperation.
2. Inviting organization. It is stated in your invitation letter, but it
is in Russian. There are following possibilities:
a) If you are staying at the Student House of Moscow State University
(MSU), then your inviting organization is Lomonosov Moscow State
University. Here is the
official website.
b) In all other cases your inviting organization is Moscow Center for
Continuous Mathematical Education. Here is the
official website.
3. Dates of your visit. You have filled in dates of your visit in your
registration form. However while preparing invitations we tried to extend
the dates of your visit just to be on the safe side. So in your visa
application you should write the dates that are WRITTEN IN YOUR INVITATION
LETTER (the dates in the invitation letter and in the application form you
fill in should match). Although your invitation is in Russian, it is not
hard to find these dates: they are written in the form dd.mm.yyyy and
cover the interval of the conference.
Please, do not hesitate to contact us in case of any additional questions.
